Although electric supercars may be in fashion, they can’t match this all-electric drift car that Audi developed for Ken Block, an extreme sports sensation.
Block will drive the Audi S1 E-tron Quattro Honitron in the next installment of his Gymkhana video series. It has already been viewed hundreds of millions of times online and its bizarre design is inspired from Audi’s rally heritage.
Block has extensively modified the Audi RS E-tron GT to make it his own. The car is based upon the newly launched Audi RS E-tron GT. Block claims that the car can go from a standstill to a speed of 93 mph, indicating it is fully loaded with electronic and mechanical gadgetry.
Audi confirmed that the car features all-wheel drive from two electric motors, and a carbonfibre chassis. It also comes with an extensive range of safety equipment in case something goes wrong. Marc Lichte, Audi’s head designer, created the wild bodywork styling. It is a tribute to the Sport Quattro S1 which competed in the Pikes Peak hillclimb back in 1987.
Block has already tried the car and announced that the next series Gymkhana videos would be run under the Elektrikhana banner, in tribute to the powertrain.
